The Geomorphic Wetlands Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge and Donnybrook to Nannup areas dataset displays the location, boundary and geomorphic classification of wetlands in the above areas. Wetlands in this dataset have been classified into types according to the geomorphic wetland classification system (Semeniuk & Semeniuk 1995 and unpublished report to the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC; VCSRG 2006a)) This classification systems defines wetlands based on their landform and water permanence.Wetlands were classified according to the prevailing hydrological conditions at the time. This classification may require to be re-examined if hydrological conditions are altered by irreversible anthropological effects or by cyclic climatic variability.There are wetlands that have already been altered by anthropological impacts, for example dam construction. where boundaries may be less accurate. These wetlands are identified as having an approximate boundary. A separate layer describes the portion of boundary that is approximate. |
